This study was planned to investigate the effect of hyperthyroidism on the levels of glucose, total protein, triglyceride, total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol in rabbits. Sixteen rabbits (Lepus europous)(eight for treatment group, eight for control group) were used in this study. Hyperthyroidism was produced by injecting of L-thyroxine at a dose of 100?g/kg per day for a month in treatment group. The levels of TT4 (thyroxine) and TT3 (triiodothyronine) were measured in both of the groups after a month. The levels of TT3 (288±17ng/dl) and TT4 (8.42±1.4 ?g/dl) were significantly higher in treatment group. No differences in glucose levels were found between the groups. The levels of triglyceride (p<0.05), total protein, total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol (p<0.001) were significantly higher than those measured in control group

Deney gurubuna otuz gün süreyle günlük 100?g/kg dozunda L-tiroksin (i.p) uygulanarak, hipertiroidizm oluşturuldu. Bu süre sonunda kontrol ve deney gurubu tavşanlarda TT4 (tiroksin) ve TT3 (triiodotironin) seviyelerine bakıldı.Deney gurubunda TT3 (288.4?17ng/dl) ve TT4 (8.42?1.4 ?g/dl) seviyeleri çok yüksek bulundu.Kontrol ve deney gurubu arasında glukoz miktarları yönünden fark bulunmadı. Fakat kontrol gurubuna oranla deney gurubundaki tavşanlarda trigliserid (p<0.05), total protein, total kolesterol, HDL-kolesterol ve LDL-kolesterol (p<0.001) önemli derecede yüksek bulundu.
